The Costa Brava is often undeservedly associated with crowded vacation spots while actually its coastline and hinterland are surprisingly beautiful with hidden bays, small fishing villages, medieval villages, some great cities and the foothills of the Pyrenees. Tucked away above one of the small idyllic bays, just an hour and a half drive from Barcelona and one hour from Girona you will find Hostal sa Rascassa.

The hotel is a true hidden gem between the pines, only 5 rooms available, as well as a great restaurant, the ocean and other than that…. pure tranquility! The kind owner, Oscar, speaks fluent English and can recommend lots activities and explorations in the region. Alternatively, you can choose to just enjoy the quiet surroundings of the hotel; a stroll to the bay or maybe to the next beach. The hiking trail along the coastline is highly recommended.

The five rooms are attractive and comfortable, not too spacious but there is plenty of space outside. The breakfast is extensive for Spanish standards and you should definitely have lunch, dinner or both in the restaurant, the Spaniards come from far to enjoy their lovely meals. Add the tasty food to the beautiful entourage and you will want to stay for a long time!
