From the moment you leave the motorway onto the small roads winding through the old villages and the vineyards of the Cahors, it’s like stepping back in time. In the middle of all these vineyards, lies an old winery transformed into a restaurant, atelier and a gîte (a French vacation rental).
The British owners, Chas and Caroline, moved here with their two girls a few years ago to escape their hectic London life and fulfil one of their dreams. They have rebuilt and redecorated the unique location to create a lovely and comfortable accommodation perfectly suited for contemporary lifestyle without doing harm to the history and charm of the old winery.
Child Friendly!
The gîte has a high standard kitchen with a dining table and a wood burner for colder seasons; a spacious bathroom with a designer tub and walk-in rainshower; a master bedroom with a more than comfortable kingsize bed and a terrace with beautiful views of the own vineyards including spectacular sunsets (weather permitting of course). The other room is accessible via a staircase in the living, with two single beds, perfectly suited for children.
Speaking of kids, this place is very child friendly. It has an enormous backyard (again with a private terrace) allowing the kids to explore the nature, jump on the trampoline and swim in the (fenced) pool.
The high standard of luxury, the surroundings, Chas and Caroline’s warm hospitality and the fact that there is a good restaurant on site, makes this place different from a lot of other gîtes in the area. Your hosts will even arrange dinner on your own terrace if you so please and breakfast can be ordered in as well. In summer months they provide pottery workshops in the Atelier, providing lots of fun for kids as well. All together le Caillau is a real Local Hideaway and a perfect place to unwind with your family or just with the two of you.
