Spacious, comfortable suites
Suitable for staying with children
By the sea and in the charming capital town
A striking Venetian house with four spacious suites where the old beams and walls could tell endless stories about everything that has happened here, if only they could talk. Located in charming Chora, the capital of the beautiful, unspoilt island of Andros. The suites are fully equipped, suitable for several people and have a kitchenette. The perfect base from which to discover this wonderful island!
As a child, Louiza often visited this beautiful Venetian mansion to stay with her grandparents. It was a striking house where the old beams and walls could tell endless stories about everything that had happened there, if only they could talk. The house was built around the time of the Venetian occupation and was originally one of the defence towers of the “Lower Castle”, but it also housed a notable shipbuilding family and was a refuge for many people from Andros during the German bombings in the Second World War. So much history and so much soul… it would be a shame to let this go to waste.
That’s why Louiza and her husband wanted to preserve it as much as possible and took on the challenge of restoring the property and sharing it with guests who, like them, enjoy this time capsule and the spectacular location with phenomenal sea views. Speaking of which, some rooms even make you feel like you’re on a ship when you look outside.
Four suites are now available for rent and are equipped with all modern conveniences but have certainly retained their old soul. Super comfy beds, a luxurious bathroom with my favourite Greek Olive Era products, a kitchenette and plenty of space. There is room for up to five people in the biggest suite. One suite has a fantastic roof terrace and another has a beautiful balcony with endless views and the most beautiful sunrise imaginable. Breakfast is brought to your room and kayaks are available for guests.
A perfect location!
It is even possible to stay here a little longer during the off-season and work, for example – a wonderfully inspiring retreat.
And you haven’t even mentioned how lovely Andros is, especially the capital Chora, where this Local Hideaway is located. Andros is a large island and still relatively undiscovered by tourists. Many (wealthy) Athenians have a country house there and spend weekends and holidays there.
The island is quite green and a paradise for hikers with a huge network of hiking trails, making it ideal for stays in the early and late seasons. But the beaches are also varied and lovely… even in the absolute high season, you can still find a relatively quiet beach. Chora, the capital, is a pleasant place with various restaurants, terraces and shops. It is also a cultural hub with museums, art festivals and cinemas. In short, it is a personal favourite and actually one that should not be talked about too much, shhh…
