A hidden gem on my favourite Greek island, Andros! The perfect place for family holidays or retreats. Will this become your happy place too? There is room for 14 guests in 5 cottages with a large communal area and kitchen. The garden is a true paradise and the swimming pool is wonderfully refreshing.
Just a two-hour ferry ride from the mainland brings you to Andros… To be honest, I had never heard of this island before I planned my trip to Greece. And that makes sense, because this is the island of the Greeks, especially wealthy Greeks from Athens who have their holiday homes here. And despite it being high season, it’s not too crowded here, and you can enjoy your holiday among the Greeks.
Over 16 years ago, Nelly, a former politician, and her husband Michaelis, an architect, fell head over heels for the ruins of an old farmhouse… the place felt like home and they saw so many possibilities for transforming the dilapidated remains into a comfortable country estate… their own “happy place”, a country retreat where they could welcome guests as friends. New life was breathed into the old stables and farmhouse, but the land was also cultivated organically and a lot of energy was put into growing fruit trees, grapes, vegetables, etc. The result is a hidden oasis… close to Chora, the island’s capital.

This Hideaway has since been taken over and this little paradise with only 5 cottages/rooms is now available for rent as a whole. It is perfectly located on the island so that you can explore this wonderful island with your hire car (highly recommended!). Andros is ideal for discovery trips: an extensive network of hiking trails, hidden beaches, fairytale villages… it has it all.
Favourite Island!
After a day out and about, it’s wonderful to come home to this hideaway, where you can relax with a book in the garden among the lemon trees and the intoxicating scent of blooming jasmine, or take a refreshing dip in the pool. You can practise yoga in the special sala or book a wonderfully relaxing massage. The cottages/rooms are very comfortably furnished with good quality beds and lovely shower products. There is a large communal area with a spacious kitchen, as well as pleasant outdoor seating areas.
In short, this is a hidden gem on the surprising island of Andros and is ideal for families, couples or retreat groups.
