A variety of holiday homes
Restaurant and swimming pool
Beautiful surroundings and a great base
Carmen and Paolo breathed new life into a heritage village in Centro de Portugal by turning its houses into charming places to stay. The result is a Hideaway with 13 houses, a pool, a spa and a restaurant. The village is unique for its robust granite Beirã architecture and surrounded by wide open countryside. Perfect for peace seekers, walkers, nature and culture lovers.
How do you protect a beautiful old heritage village from decline and breathe new life into it? By using a good number of its houses as accommodation and welcoming travellers to the village. That is exactly what Carmen and Paolo did 23 years ago, in the village where their hearts lie. The result is this Hideaway, with 13 houses and 31 rooms, charmingly furnished with beautiful pieces and wonderfully comfortable beds.
But it did not stop there. A shared swimming pool, a spa and a restaurant full of atmosphere followed. And this enterprising couple keeps on going. Just outside the village they created a lovely space for events and barbecue evenings. They organise boat trips on the Douro and make their own wine.
Then there is the village itself, in the heart of Centro de Portugal, with robust granite Beirã architecture you will not find anywhere else. It is part of the network of the Historic Villages of Portugal, twelve hidden gems in the interior, each with its own story. Surrounded by wide open countryside, it is the perfect place for those seeking peace and quiet, walkers, nature lovers and culture lovers. A place where time slows down all by itself.
