A famous French shoe designer opening a hotel in Portugal… it sounds a bit strange, doesn’t it?! But Christian Louboutin has loved coming to the west coast in the Alentejo below Lisbon for years and also has his own home there. So it was a logical step to unleash his creative brain on a new small-scale luxury hotel in authentic Melides.
He created a beautifully eclectic place where his love of art and travel come together in perfect balance. Of course, with every comfort and quality.
Olala… what a fine Hideaway this is and everything comes together well here. From the outside, you can’t see what beauty lurks behind the façade…. so the surprise is all the greater when you enter. And immediately a tremendously warm welcome… the friendliness and the ‘personality’ of the staff make you feel right at home and give this hotel that extra something. An absolute plus.
The property houses different types of rooms, all different, with lots of atmosphere, unique art, luxury and space! Also, almost every room has its own outside or balcony. The garden is beautiful with lots of flowers (red!) and a small pool with sun beds. The garden is also decorated by art by Giuseppe Ducrot, who also designed the ornaments on the facades. He is one of the artists Louboutin collaborated with.
There are many nooks where you can retreat, both inside and outside. And don’t forget to have a drink at the spectacular bar! For an extra pamper moment, very good ayurvedic treatments can be booked in the small treatment room. Breakfast is delicious, when the weather is nice on the terrace and in the evening you dine fantastically in the in-house restaurant (also open to outside guests).
Eclectic and with personality!
And then there are the beautiful surroundings: wonderfully fragrant pine trees and a choice of rugged stretches of beach (especially in spring and low season you almost have them to yourself) are a stone’s throw away, small local fishing villages, but also the ‘upscale’ Comporta. The Alentejo is a diamond in the rough and so worth exploring! Also don’t forget to hike or cycle part of the rota Vicentina, wonderfully beautiful!
I understand very well that Christian Louboutin set his heart on this place… it is (still) authentic and Portuguese. And how special is his small-scale luxury hotel where his creativity and inspiration from all over the world merge in a beautiful synergy with the Portuguese culture and environment. Highy recommended to immerse yourself in for a few days
