This Hideaway is a true retreat. Away from the crowds, it’s a place where you can truly unwind. It’s lovely during the quieter months, when the island is still quietly waking from its winter slumber – the time of year I visit. But it’s also the perfect escape when the island is inundated with visitors in the summer. The food is delicious, the service is excellent and the surroundings are enchanting.
The last stretch of the drive to this Local Hideaway sets the tone beautifully. A winding lane, stunning countryside and views that quite literally take your breath away. And then, there it is: a magnificent finca emerging from the landscape… my home for the night.
The welcome is wonderfully warm. Manager Antonio greets me alongside his beloved four-legged companion Carmen. A fire crackles in the hearth as I’m shown to a generous, atmospheric room. I open the doors to the terrace and find myself utterly charmed: the lights of Valldemossa, twinkling across the valley. Magical.
An aperitif by the fire, followed by a delicious dinner in the restaurant that has made its home around the ancient olive press. This is a property with history, built around a centuries-old olive mill, and you feel it in every corner. In the warmer months, dinner moves outside, surrounded by the scent of flowers and herbs. The food is wonderful, and I recommend it wholeheartedly.
I drift off to sleep content, ready to explore the Hideaway properly come morning. The rooms are varied and comfortable, each with their own character. The room in the former sheep shelter is a particular highlight: spacious, authentic, with spectacular views across the valley to the charming village of Valldemossa, well worth a visit in its own right.

Outside, a large garden unfolds across several terraces. There’s a generous pool with sun loungers for lazy afternoons, and the estate is threaded with walking paths through ancient olive groves. As it should be.
Breakfast is a real treat: generous, fresh and utterly delicious. Fuel enough for a proper walk through the beautiful surrounding countryside. After all, one must maintain some semblance of balance.
This place is a true retreat. Away from the crowds, somewhere to properly unwind. But equally the perfect escape in summer, when Mallorca fills to the brim with visitors. Which is why this Hideaway comes with my trusted motto firmly attached: Don’t spread the word!
