A bay where the light is so beautiful and reflects off the picturesque white houses… it’s the perfect source of inspiration for many artists! And so Lorca, Picasso, Miró and Dalí discovered Cadaqués… a picturesque fishing village on the Costa Brava. Nowadays, it is a popular spot for day trippers and tourists. Especially on nice days, it gets busy, very busy. But despite this, it is a special place and definitely worth a visit. It has the best of both worlds: the sea and beautiful nature in the hinterland.
Away from the hustle and bustle (but within walking distance of the lively centre with its charming shops and excellent restaurants), I found a fantastic hideaway. Sixteen rooms in different categories, modern and tastefully decorated. There is a very good restaurant and a garden with a swimming pool. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and there is a “hidden” beach just around the corner. This is an absolute must and a real local hideaway!

A delightful, tranquil spot in the beautiful surroundings of the Baix Empordà. An old country house on the edge of a medieval village surrounded by fields offers a wonderful stay in one of its romantically decorated and comfortable rooms. There is an excellent restaurant and the breakfast is a real treat! The masterpiece is a fantastic sprawling garden with the most beautiful flowers, a vegetable garden where ingredients for the restaurant are grown, and a swimming pool. This Local Hideaway is a feast for the senses and a perfect base from which to discover the Baix Empordà and the spectacular Costa Brava coastline!
The Catalan city of Girona is one of my personal favourites. It is a small, vibrant city with a rich history and so much to discover in terms of gastronomy. It still has a strong Spanish character and is not overrun by tourists. It is also surrounded by the most beautiful scenery: the spectacular coastline of the Costa Brava and the authentic inland region of Baix Empordá.
The only thing missing in this city was a contemporary luxury hotel, and with the arrival of this fantastic Local Hideaway, that gap has now been filled! It is the perfect hotel for the discerning traveller who wants to experience the city from a special place that is both authentic and modern.
